'Get Inspired' is a series of shoe design collaborations with the intention to inspire our community to unlock different creative practices and apply them to shoes.
@ni.studios is a jewellery brand run by the lovely and very talented Daisy. Daisy handcrafts her modern polymer clay pieces right here in London and it's fair to say I am totally obsessed with her work! I absolutely love the idea of taking pieces which were originally meant for jewellery and applying them to shoes. There’s something really special about realising your work can be reimagined into lots of different things, especially shoes! Because heck… why not!
Daisy worked with us to create a simple shoe design which showcased one of her favourite pieces, her hexagon links, and we are so happy with how they turned out.
When I first started I Can Make Shoes back in 2010, I would run up-cycling workshops and something that struck me was how often I would see people bringing in earrings which they wanted to use as embellishments for their shoes.. I guess they come in pairs so it makes sense right.. The cool thing about what we do now is that we can actually design the shoes from scratch and consider the embellishment right from the start rather than just as a decorative afterthought..
I hope this project inspires you to think outside the box when creating your shoe designs, think about other hobbies or interests that you have any imagine ways you can incorporate them into your designs!
