We’ve been waiting for the perfect pair of shoes to make with these crazy green heels and finally Tessa just decided they would be all green sparkly party shoes, and what can I say.. They’re perfect!
'Get Inspired' is a series of shoe designs with the intention to inspire our community to get creative with their home shoe projects. All the shoes made in this series (or variations of them) can be made by following the instructions in our Online Footwear Masterclass.
Ok so lets start with these crazy green heels, they came from a heel supplier we found on Alibaba a while ago when we put in a small order of heels and when we opened the box they had included one random pair of these perspex green heels.
They’ve been sitting in a box of miscellaneous heels since before the pandemic so we figured it was time to make them into a fun pair of party shoes. The design was super simple, thin straps with a bit of sparkle and the rest is all green everything.. because let's be honest, those green heels are the star of the shoe!
Anyway I really love how simple this pair is, (and easy, there’s zero stitching in this design) but it’s easy to get carried away when you start a new shoe project, so I like to remember that sometimes less is more..
Here’s a little run through of how we made the shoes...
Step 1 - Cut the Shanked Insoles to size and covered them with the same green leather used for the rest of the shoe.
Step 2 - Cut the green leather into thin straps and folded the edges for a neat finish.
Step 3 - Lasted the straps over a pair of I Can Make Shoes Mid Heel Shoemaking Lasts.
Step 4 - Trimmed the excess straps from beneath the shoes, added a cork bottom filler to the base of the shoes to create a nice flat surface and added on the soles. We always use our new Resin Soling in beige for all of our projects now because it is so easy to use and super durable too.
Step 5 - Once the soles were attached we drilled in the green perspex heels and added a small insole sock to cover the screws that were used to attach the heels.
Step 6 - I glued a sparkly strip of crystal pieces along the thin straps to give the shoes a little extra sumfin sumfin!
