The newest edition to our ‘Get Inspired Series’ - this pair of party shoes is complete with holographic starry soles and handmade bows!
After coming across this fun bouclé suiting fabric with sparkly lurex squares from @fabricgodmother, it seemed only fair to make it the feature of the cutest pair of disco-themed heels.
We made the bows following a tutorial on Youtube where you can find hundreds of great free tutorials for bits like this. And to our surprise there are lots of different styles of bows you can make too! We went for this puffy, boxy style bow for extra drama 😉
As a last minute decision we embossed the soles with the holographic stars using our Metallic Elephant embossing machine 🌟
Anyway, I really love how they turned out! Here’s a little run through of how we made them…
Step 1 - Firstly, we cut, stitched and assembled the uppers using this epic fabric from Fabric godmother.
Step 2 - Using the same material, we made a pair of bows that we then sewed on to the uppers.
Step 3 - Next, we cut the shanked insoles to size and covered them in black leather. We lasted the uppers and inserted a pair of toe puff stiffeners.
Step 4 - We then added cork bottom filler to the base of the shoes to create a nice flat surface for the soles.
Step 5 - We embossed the soles with holographic foil stars before attaching them to the shoes.
Step 6 - Finally, we covered the stiletto heels and attached them, adding a small insole sock to cover the screws.
Estimated time to make = 4 hours
